Three held for kindling forest fire

MUSSOORIE Three elderly men from Sartali village in Kempty area were arrested late on Tuesday night on the charges of deliberately starting a forest fire. The accused were identified as Kishan Singh, Sansar Singh and Bhav Singh. Gyan Singh Tomar, a forest official from Mussoorie range, noticed the fire near Dudhli Sartali late on Tuesday night. On seeing the trio trying to flee the spot, the official grew suspicious and detained them. During questioning, they confessed to have started the fire with a beedi stub. Hence, they were arrested under section 33 (penalty for kindling fire) of Indian Forest Act, 1927. They were later released on bail on Wednesday morning.
